Dan Harary has been a Hollywood Publicist for 40 straight years and has owned and operated the boutique PR company The Asbury PR Agency in Beverly Hills since 1996. During the course of his career, Dan has worked with many dozens of the world’s biggest movie, TV, pop and rock music stars – he chronicled his unique career in the popular 2022 memoir, FLIRTING WITH FAME: A HOLLYWOOD PUBLICIST RECALLS 50 YEARS OF CELEBRITY CLOSE ENCOUNTERS.

Dan’s PR Agency specializes in the representation of clients and individuals working across every conceivable area of the entertainment, corporate, and leisure industries. As owner of The Asbury PR Agency, Dan has represented well over 1,000 clients, comprised of countless companies and individuals, along with films, TV projects, live theatre presentations, special and charity events, books, restaurants, art shows, authors, musicians, comics, law firms, and others.

Among the highlights of the Asbury Agency’s work since its formation: Handling the press coverage for the 100th Anniversary Celebrations of both the iconic Hollywood restaurant Musso & Frank Grill, including that venue’s having received the first and only “Restaurant Star” in the history of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the beloved El Cholo restaurant; handling Public Relations for three years for SIGGRAPH, the world’s largest international Computer Graphics Conference; handling the public relations and promotion for the grand opening of the $3.2 billion Studio City Hotel & Resort in Macau, China (U.S. press); launching the Hollywood Film Festival; handling the debut performance of Japan’s #1 Singing Group in the U.S.; launching the Star Trek: The Experience attraction in Las Vegas; launching the Visual Effects Society; and producing a Special Press Event honoring the rock band KISS.

Dan and the Asbury PR Agency have also: announced a proposed sequel to the film classic “It’s A Wonderful Life”- briefly making that project the # 1 entertainment story in the world in Fall 2013; handled PR for two high-profile live theater productions, “Lovelace,” written by Go-Go’s star Charlotte Caffey and starring Katrina Lenk (who went on to win a Tony Award), and “Jesus Chris Superstar Live: The Original Cast Reunion,” starring Jack Black; represented two Academy Award-winning clients: Makeup Artists Robert Short (“Beetlejuice,”) and Barney Burman (“Star Trek,”) along with three time Emmy Award winning Special Makeup FX legend Todd Masters (“Handmaid’s Tale,” “Six Feet Under,” “The Good Doctor”;) and ran all media coverage for the 24th Annual Animé Expo, which drew 100,000 attendees to the LA Convention Center in 2015. 

Before launching The Asbury PR Agency in 1996, Dan was a prominent Hollywood Publicist for The American Film Institute, The Playboy Channel, Columbia Pictures Television, and two high-profile entertainment industry PR Agencies in Los Angeles. Highlights of Dan’s career: Representing Jay Leno concurrent with his becoming the host of The Tonight Show; Launching the Hollywood Film Festival; Co-Creating and Launching the Environmental Media Awards; Representing Two Academy Award winning Visual Effects Artists and a Three-Time Emmy Award winning VFX Artist; Representing Musso & Frank’s 100th Anniversary and El Cholo’s 100th Anniversary; Working on Special Projects for Sid Caesar, Steve Allen, Milton Berle, Graham Nash, Dixie Carter, Jack Black, Brooke Shields, Charlotte Caffey of The Go-Gos, KISS, Hugh Hefner, The Who, Kirk Douglas, Dr. Ruth, Al Gore, Drew Carey and Steven Spielberg, among others; and Working with a pre-fame KISS, Fleetwood Mac and Bruce Springsteen in 1973 at The Sunshine Inn rock concert hall in Asbury Park, NJ.
