THE BACKSTORY – In 1870 the Legend of the NEWARK NEW JERSEY GHOST TRAIN began based on hundreds of eyewitness accounts.  The ghost train pulled into this early Victorian railroad depot – in the current day as TRACK 5 PENN STATION.

No one ever saw anything, but hundreds of witnesses reported hearing the fast-moving steam engine’s whistle and the screeching of iron wheels against the rails as the invisible train quickly passed through the station.

On one occasion, nearly six hundred people witnessed the phenomenon, but fortunately, the so called “Express Train to Hell” never stopped to pick up passengers.

One witness’s testimony stated “I was standing on the Track 1 platform and the sound was coming from the opposite direction in the area of Track 5, inside the station. There were several people on the platform with me who were waiting for the Amtrak train to D.C. They were all somewhat mystified, as there was no visible sign of any train to match the powerful sound and wind of this roaring steam engine from a fast-moving train coming through the station.”

 CURRENT TIME AND OPENING SCENES – CIA OPERATIVE CODE NAME “SANDMAN” investigating a number of covert cold cases and people who have mysteriously gone missing from Newark’s Penn Station TRACK 5.  As he is kneeling over a dead body on TRACK 5, Sandman hears footsteps coming down the stairs behind him on the opposite side of the tunnel on TRACK 1. 

Sandman turns to see SPECIAL FBI AGENT, HENRY COLLINS, so he leaves the dead body and crosses the tracks to meet him.  As they confront each other the roar of a fast-moving STEAM ENGINE AND WARM WIND passes through on TRACK 5, but unseen by them AS IT PASSES THROUGH THE DEAD BODY WHO NOW BECOMES A TRANSLUCENT OPAQUE FIGURE AND THE HUMAN BODY HAS DISAPPEARED FROM THE TRACKS.

Sandman and Henry Collins are mystified as this now GHOSTLY person, an unexpected source to help them solve the paranormal cold cases utilizing their investigative techniques and relying on this supernatural partner who they both can see approaches them and says:

“I know how they go missing…and I’m the only one that can help you.”

Iggy disappears leaving Sandman and Henry Collins mystified, yet now they know their mission of how to solve these cold cases…and who must be the one to help them because they are not just criminal…they are PARARNORMAL AND CONFIDENTIAL.

Sandman and Henry Collins return for a Joint Meeting at CIA Headquarters to discuss what they had seen and meet with Diane and Lester, handlers of the covert group overseeing the COLD CASE DIVISION.

Diane and Lester are notified the covert Cold Case division will be moving to a secret location at Sandy Hook Lighthouse, named for the operation as Sandy Hook Research Center. 

They also learn that the basis of why these cold cases is unable to be solved is due to the fact that it is centered on Paranormal events and activities.  And the only one to help them solve the cases is Iggy, who they first met at his death on Track 5 Penn Station…a GHOST.
